National Tropical Botanical Garden Commemorates The Year’s Longest Day With Summer Solstice Celebration

Kalāheo, Kaua‘i, Hawai‘i (June 8, 2007) – Kaua‘i visitors and residents are invited to celebrate the year’s longest day as the National Tropical Botanical Garden (NTBG) hosts a Summer Solstice Celebration. Taking place from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 21, the Summer Solstice Celebration will feature slack key guitar and ‘ukulele performances by Hal Kinnaman, and island-style food and drink by the Po‘ipū Beach Broiler available for purchase.

The celebration will take place at the Garden’s Southshore Visitors Center, which is located at 4425 Lāwa‘i Road in Po‘ipū. Entry is free and those attending will have the opportunity to “Discover the Garden” through a membership rate of as low as $20.

“We are pleased to be able to host this fun and memorable event with Hal Kinnaman here at the Garden,” said Charles “Chipper” Wichman, CEO and Director of NTBG. “We hope that folks come and enjoy the longest day of the year and share this special occasion with family and friends. The gardens offer such a wonderful and serene atmosphere.”

Federally chartered by Congress in 1964 as a non-profit organization, NTBG is comprised of a network of gardens and preserves, including McBryde Garden, Allerton Garden, and Limahuli Garden and Preserve on the island of Kaua‘i; Kahanu Garden on Maui; The Kampong in Florida; and three preserves on the Big Island of Hawai‘i.
